Stacy Elizabeth Thompson
Stacy Thompson graduated from the University of South Carolina Honors College in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Studies. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and a Master of International Business Studies Degree (Portugese track) from the Darla Moore School of Business in 2000. She joined Bluestein & Nichols, LLC in 2000, and became a partner in 2007. Stacy practices exclusively in the area of Social Security Disability.
Stacy is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives (NOSSCR) and in 2009 was elected to the NOSSCR Board representing the Fourth and DC Circuits. She is also a member of the South Carolina Association for Justice, the American Association for Justice, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, the South Carolina Bar Association, and the Richland County Bar Association. Stacy is active in the Junior League of Columbia and volunteers with the South Carolina Pro Bono program. She is currently chair of the Social Security Disability section of the South Carolina Association for Justice (formerly South Carolina Trial Lawyers) and is chair of the South Carolina Bar Publications Committee. She has been a speaker at numerous seminars regarding social security disability throughout the state, including the 2007 South Carolina Trial Lawyers Annual Conference, and in 2006 and 2008 organized and moderated social security seminars for the South Carolina Bar Association.
Stacy has authored one publication, Social Security Disability Cases in South Carolina: Basic Case Evaluation and Management (SC Bar 2006) and coauthored another, Handling a Social Security Disability Case (National Business Institute 2007).
Stacy grew up in Columbia, graduating from Brookland-Cayce High School, but lived in both Brazil and Germany during her college and postgraduate education. She is fluent in Portuguese, has passable German and still retains some of her early Latin. In maintaining her passion for travel, Stacy has thus far been to China, Russia, much of Europe, Latin America, Australia and Antarctica – six continents down, one to go! She lives in Cayce with her dog Josie, who was adopted from Project Pet, a local no-kill animal shelter. Stacy is fortunate to have her immediate family close by and as former member of the USC volleyball team and lifelong Gamecock fan, she remains dedicated to the Garnet & Black and firmly believes that the phrase “wait ‘til next year” will one day come true.
